Championing British craftmanship

Celebrating the best of British design and craft

As attention turns to London this summer & the 2012 Olympics kick off, it’s a great moment to shout a bit about all the unique British creations we have in store.

Emma Bridgewater
New to Storie, the gorgeous hand painted ceramics of Emma Bridgewater, each piece made with loving care in the company’s Victorian pottery factory at Stoke-on-Trent.

Thornback and Peel
Pigeons on bowler hats, bright pink jelly (or cannelés if that’s what you see), union jacks and bejeweled crowns, each individually screen printed to produce these delightful and playful homewares made in the UK.

Shan Valla
Delicate porcelain accessories, decorations and homeware made in London by this award winning British designer.

Lighting the way. British design classic Anglepoise has just released a new range & a re-edition of their original 1932 lamp, a favourite for architects and designers for decades because of it’s elegant usability.

New to Storie this summer, the Pendal sofa by PINCH, hand crafted in Oxfordshire. Husband and wife team PINCH have impressive design credentials which shine in their mission to create timeless, iconic pieces of the highest quality.

Tuke and Tuke
Pure, chic and sleek, furniture and ceramics from this contemporary design team, all hand made in the heart of Wales.

True Grace
True Grace scented candles, 100% vegetable, hand made in England, with more than 40 hour burn time & housed in beautiful etched glass.

Sam Hecht
The sublime simplicity of the Branca chair stops passers by in their tracks. Designed by London designer Sam Hecht of “Industrial Facility” for Italian design house Mattiazzi, the clean and elegant lines of the Branca chair are created combining both robotic (CNC molding) and handcraft processes.

Zeena Shah
Lavender filled hearts and birdies, with pretty silk screened patterns by London designer Zeena Shah.

Sara Beazley
We’ve just received 3 new works from British- Belgian artist and print maker Sara Beazley whose refined style has garnered international attention. Marrying old with new, she employs traditional printing techniques such as etching, drypoint, embossing and silkscreen printing to produce contemporary and original images. We were lucky enough to exhibit her work in 2011 and are very happy to be showing these hot new pieces – Pin Up Girls i, iii and Stormy weather.

Joanna Hair
Our bird obsession continues. Joanna has created a gorgeous family of brightly coloured raku creatures for Storie. A British artist based in France, Joanna has been practicing this Japanese technique for more than 30 years now, and these pieces are now prized by collectors all over the country and far beyond.

Olivia Rutherford
This summer Storie housed SHOWTIME, an exhibition following Paris’ street performers, circus acts and city’s famous fairgrounds by British photographer Olivia Rutherford, and we’re continuing to show Olivia’s work. You can also buy her unexpected Paris post cards, if you’ve had enough of the Eiffle tower.

Beshlie McKelvie
We’re stocking beautiful silk and cotton Dupattas and fine hand loomed shawls by British textile designer Beshlie Mckelvie. Beshlie’s work focusses on traditional textile techniques used across India and Latin America. She works exclusively with cooperatives and organisations which assure fair pay and labour rights to its artisans.

Brooke Greene
